Nowata- Robert Dale Guthrie, 63, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital in Tulsa. After successfully battling Lymphoma in 2011, he passed away from a recurrence of cancer.
Bob was born on May 16, 1955 in Long Beach, CA to Henry "Hank" V Guthrie and Patricia Garrett Guthrie. Bobrs early years were spent in California helping his father in barber shops and collecting antique treasures with his mother. The family moved to Dewey in 1972 where Bob graduated from Bartlesville High School. Bob enjoyed working as a jeweller and held various other jobs throughout his life.
Bob enjoyed working in his yard and garden, spending time on his computer, and having lively political discussions. He could be found enjoying an evening at the casino or playing dominos and cards. He was friendly towards everyone and always willing to offer help to others in any way he could. He accepted people for who they were and rarely met a person he did not like.
In 2007 Bob reconnected with Shelia Lewis, a former workfriend, and in 2012 they were married and made their home together in Nowata. One of Bob's great joys in life was his extensive family, and he embraced her family as a natural extension of his own.
