Daniel Clifford Guthrie, Sr.

Daniel Clifford Guthrie, Sr.
November 08, 1937 ~ April 20, 2018

Daniel Clifford Guthrie, Sr., born November 8, 1937 passed away Friday, April 20, 2018.

He served in the Army and fought his way back up from a bad injury.  He was paralyzed from the waist down and told he might never walk again.  He proved them wrong.  He was not much of a fisherman, but he sure could sing. He even recorded his own record.

He retired from Tinker AFB and then opened up his own gas station and years later he and his wife ran a motel for a few years.  He was well known in the race horse industry and trained and raced horses for many years.  They moved to Earlsboro to retire and bought a small place in the country where Dan met many new friends.  He was also a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma.

He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Sue Guthrie; 2 daughters, Susan Diane Collins and Bonnie Sue Lankford; 2 sons, Jeffrey Alan Guthrie, and Daniel Clifford Guthrie; 7 grandchildren, Stephanee Collins, Scott Collins, Heather East, Charity Whitehead, Jamie Wilson, Mandi Lankford and Clay Lankford; 11 great-grandchildren: 1 brother, John Guthrie and wife Wanda; 1 sister, Bonnie Alvarez and husband John; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Rodney Ackerman, First Free Will Baptist Church in Seminole, OK officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
