Fred L. Gustus, age 90, of Velma, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his residence.
Fred was born on June 12, 1927 in Geneseo, Kansas to Fred T. and Maria (Streck) Gustus.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War.
On October 16, 1948, he married the love of his life, Emma Adams, and they would spend the next sixty-eight wonderful years together. Fred worked for Conoco Oil for over twenty-eight years. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting but he loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Maria Gustus; one son, Gary Gustus; three brothers, Wayne Gustus, Victor Gustus and Calvin Gustus and two sisters, Regis Porter and Bessie Haverfield,
Fred is survived by his wife Emma Gustus of Velma; two sons, Stephen Gustus and wife Pamela of Blanchard and Fred T "Tim" Gustus and wife Dora of Duncan; one daughter, Cindy Oswald and husband Mark of Round Rock, Texas; three sisters, Pauline Schriner and husband Clarence of Culver, Kansas, Elaine Nelson of McPherson, Kansas and Rosella Nelson of Marquette, Kansas, thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild along with numerous other relatives and close friends.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.
