Oscar "Sonny" Gurley

September 3, 1944 ~ February 16, 2008

Oscar "Sonny" Gurley was born September 3, 1944, in Norfolk, Virginia to Oscar Seehausen Gurley and Alice (Post) Gurley. He departed this life February 16, 2008, at his home in Bunch, Oklahoma at the age of 63.

Oscar graduated high school from the New Mexico Military Institute and attended architectural classes at Arizona State University in Temp, Arizona. Oscar served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam War with the 151st Airborne. He was married to Sylvia Adams and worked as a landscaper and personal gardener. He was a watercolor and stain glass artist and avid reader. His hobbies included model trains and astronomy. Oscar was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife; Sylvia Gurley of the home in Bunch, OK, daughter; Kendra Amburgay and husband of Surprise, AZ, sister; Sandra Herath and husband John of Bemidji, MN and one grandchild.

Memorial services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2008, at the Hickory Village Community Center with Rev. Lela Samargis officiating.

Final arrangements were entrusted to Hart Funeral Home.
