James "Jim" Gullane Jr.

James "Jim" Gullane Jr.
April 21, 1936 ~ December 10, 2022

James “Jim” Gullane, Jr., 86, of Bartlesville, started his eternal motorcycle ride on the streets of gold on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Jim was born April 21, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo., to James Gullane Sr. and Hilda W. (Cooze) Gullane. He graduated from Bartlesville’s Col-Hi in 1954 and was on the high school swim team. Jim later earned his engineering degree at Oklahoma A&M. Even before he finished earning his degree, he started his longtime employment with Phillips Petroleum Company. His first position was as a seismograph operator and eventually retired in 1992 as a supervisor.

Jim met the love of his life, Binnie Taresa Barnes, at Mr. Limey’s on June 12, 2005. Binnie remembers the date well, because Jim attended the Vacation Bible School at Westside Baptist Church, where Binnie was volunteering. The couple married on June 18, 2010. It was not immediate, but Jim eventually became a churchgoer. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the Tri County Baptist Church in Skiatook.

Jim was a member of Christian Motorcycle Club. He loved riding in parades and participated in all the parades in the area. He traveled on his bike to all 48 of the contiguous states.

He was a kind a gracious man and served the community as a volunteer for the Bartlesville Police Reserves for 45 years and the ambulance service. Jim was instrumental in establishing the Police Reserves and the public ambulance service. He was an EMT and was a member of the Search & Rescue team and the dive team.

Jim was a good instructor for both motorcycles and cars, having taught many of his family members to drive. He was a special guy who was dearly loved and will be missed.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Binnie Gullane; seven children, Cindy Merrick, Scott Gullane, Holly Gullane Lark, Metasha Olson, Heath Spalding, Misha Spalding, and James Spalding; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Julie Denton.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Tri County Baptist Church in Skiatook with Pastor Chris Cooper officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at
