LCDR, USN, Etsel Thomas Guest of Norman, Ok., passed this life Sept. 13, 2007. He was born on April 12,1916, to John Angus and Clara Elizabeth (Bell) Guest. He grew up as one of eight children raised on a farm in rural Hughes County, Ok. At the age of 17 he left the family home to work on the pipeline along the gulf coast. He joined the US Navy on Oct. 12, 1940, and served his country during WW11, the Korean War and the war in Vietnam. He remained in the US Navy until his retirement in Feb, 1971. In 1945 he married Margery Jane Talbot. They were happily married for many years but were not blessed with any children.
Lieutenant Commander Guest was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margery, his parents, J.A. and Clara Guest; two brothers, Stanley E. Guest and Joseph A. Guest, four sisters; Lenys Carol Cavett, Lois Eldridge, Trudy Henry and Jolene Bond.
He is survived by one sister, Geraldine Voiles, Oklahoma City, and one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Guest of Enid. He also leaves behind with fond memories, 14 neices and 3 nephews: Malachia Ann Bush of OKC, Mary Sue Ridge & husband Don of Eufaula; Stanley Wayne Guest & wife, Freda, of Checotah; Carolyn Camp of Sapulpa; Joy Willene Patwardhan & husband, Suhas, of Norman; Sherry Mayo & husband, Dan, of Tulsa; Patsy Ann Lee of New Castle; Donna Steyaert & husband, Warren, of Woodinville, Wa; Aldene Payne of OKC; LaCretia Vaughn of Tulsa; Alice Erland & husband, Wayne of Madison City, IA; Brinda Caldwell & husband, Henry of Coralville, Ia; Cindy Guest of Kingsport, Tn; Elizabeth Guest of Shawnee; Cathy Howell & husband, Rodney of Enid; Jimmy Bond & wife, Jean, and Michael Bond & wife, Carol, all of Blanchard, Ok. He also leaves behind a host of great neices, nephews, extended family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the Rogers Funeral Chapel at 1302 W. Main, Henryetta, Ok. on Sept. 22 at 10:30 AM.
