Jane Cecilia (Bissnette) Gubbins

Jane Cecilia (Bissnette) Gubbins
Sep 1, 1924 ~ Dec 30, 2014

Jane Cecilia Gubbins, age 90, of Yukon, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014.

She was born September 1, 1924 in Utica, New York to Leo and Cecile (Houle) Bissnette.  She graduated from Utica Free Academy and was married 52 years to Lyle William Gubbins, whom she married May 4, 1946.  She was a homemaker for many years and went back to work after her daughters were grown.  She retired from Lawton Public Schools, where she was a secretary for several years in the special education department.

Jane was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing clothes for her daughters, including formal gowns and some costumes for their school plays.  She liked cooking, baking, reading and doing crossword puzzles.  She always enjoyed music, starting with 78 rpm albums and continuing with her CD player.  She was never without a music collection and would often be dancing as she listened.  This and her great sense of humor was passed on to her family.  She will be greatly missed.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Cecile Bissnette, her husband, Lyle Gubbins, a grandson, Jeffrey Craven, two sisters; Estelle Taylor, Lorraine Taylor, and a brother; Ken Bissnette.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Lary Craven of Lexington,  Amy and Larry Marler  of Mustang, Chris and John Stowe, of Orange Grove, Texas, and grandchildren, Brian Craven of Oklahoma City, Sandy Harrell and her husband, Edrick of Lexington, Matt Stowe of Oklahoma City, Mike Stowe of Urbana, Illinois, Dylan Marler of Mustang, and Christopher Stowe of Orange Grove, Texas, one sister, Audrey Herrin in California and several nieces and   nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Ranchwood Nursing Center in Yukon for the many years they cared for Jane, and also to Crossroads Hospice for the care and comfort they gave her.
