January 17, 1925 ~ July 03, 2019

Sallie Grace Groves age 94 of Shawnee passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Saint Anthony’s Hospital on July 3, 2019. Born January 17, 1925 in Purcell Oklahoma to Frank Herman Bossing & Pearl Gaines “Love” Bossing.

Sallie Grace grew up in Purcell with her extended family within walking distance. In her Junior Year her family moved to Ada Oklahoma where she graduated in 1943. She attended the East Central University, the University of Boulder Colorado and Oklahoma City A&M in Stillwater Oklahoma. Sallie and William Groves married in 1946 at home in Ada, afterword’s they moved to Stillwater to attend Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University. Their two children Sally Jane and Robert Lodge were born while their parents were students living in the legendary “Veterans Village” on campus. After William Groves graduated from the school of Architecture & Engineering the family moved to Oklahoma City. In 1972 they built their present home and moved to Shawnee Oklahoma.

A proud Citizen of the Chickasaw Nation her Mother and Grand Mother were original Enrollees of the Dawes Acts-Indian Roles of 1887. The Love family played a prominent place in early Purcell history. Robert J. Love founded the city and plotted the lots in town. The Love family would give the land for the Schools, Churches and Cemetery. The Love Hotel, The Chickasaw Bank and Cotton Gin were only a few of the family enterprises began by Robert and Sallie Love.

A Commercial Artist who developed and managed the art department for Hyde Drug Company located in Oklahoma City and Norman. Sallie worked 45 years until the company was sold. Sallie and William with their friends enjoyed a vibrant life in the developing art scene of the 50’s and 60’s in Oklahoma City. Early Season ticket holder at the Mummers Theater and The Lyric. They made sure to introduce music and art to their children at an early age.

Sallie Grace loved Nature, Art and Music. A wonderful Wood Carver and Crafter. Even while at home on Hospice for over two years she still followed these passions watching PBS daily. She and her “Dear” Kitty Rosy loved Opera, Bob Ross and Politics!

A Witty Smart woman who was engaged with life to the very end. Her greatest love was her family and friends. She wrapped all who entered her home in love.

Heartland Hospice of Shawnee cared for her daily with gentle devotion for two years and four months. When her last day was spent at the hospital she was surrounded by their loving embrace all day long never leaving her or her family to go through this journey alone.

A Loving Wife, Mother, Grand Mother and Great Grand Mother. Her loss is greatly felt.

She is preceded in death by:

Grandparents, Robert Jeremiah Love and Sallie Gaines (Criner) Love.

Parents. Frank and Pearl Bossing,

Husband, William Robert Groves,

Sister, Pearle Frances Bossing, and Virginia Love Baird,

Brother, Gaines Robert Baird.

She is survived by:

Son, Robert Lodge Groves and Marna Cornwell of Claremore, OK.

Daughter, Sally Jane LaGrow of Shawnee,

Daughter-in-love, Sally Jo Blair of Norman,

Cousin, Helen Love of Goldsby.

And many more Love family members across Oklahoma.

Two grandchildren, Joshua Robert Groves and wife Latoya of Norman,

Jane Marie LaGrow Young and wife Sarah Young of Overland Park, KS.

Five great grandchildren, Evelyn Mae Groves of Norman,

Seth Isaac Bruno and wife Tiffany of OKC,

Hailey Marie Livingston of Fresno, CA,

Dean Livingston of Overland Park, CA.

Gavrielle Jolie Young of Overland Park, KS.

She is also survived by many friends and family and Rosy-Her Protector and companion.

Memorial services will be 2:00pm Monday, July 8, 2019 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
