Charles "Chuck" Groves

Jan. 8, 1951 ~ March 8, 2011

Charles "Chuck" Groves was born Jan. 8, 1951, in Enid, Okla., where he met his high school sweetheart, Debbie. Chuck passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at his home in Edmond. From the time of his youth until now, Chuck loved sports and played basketball, soccer and baseball in college. It seemed the simple things in life are what brought him the most joy. He loved time at the beach, classic cars, hunting, fishing and especially dates with his wife, Debbie, and time with his daughters, sons-in-law and grandkids. His zest for life was based in his deep Christian beliefs and his presence and smile would light up the room. He made life special for his family and friends but especially his daughters, he was never too busy for "Daddy Dates."

He was a quiet leader and one that set the standard for all men when it came to love and commitment to his family.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Debbie, of the home; daughters, Coby Wells and husband Luke of Ames, Iowa, and Blake Sadler and husband Josh of Dallas, Texas. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Walker and Kinsley Wells; sister, Carolyn Groves of Baldwin, Kan.; brother, Roger Groves ,Enid, Okla.; parents-in-law, Jim and Margaret Lambke of Enid; and a niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Grace Groves. A service to celebrate Chuck's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church of Edmond under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service of Edmond.
