John Corbin Groomes

John Corbin Groomes
December 9, 1931 ~ June 20, 2015

John Corbin Groomes was born on December 9, 1931 in Anadarko, OK to Tressie Geneva and Marvin Groomes.
He passed on at 12:30 p.m. June 20, 2015 in Tulsa, OK at St. Johns hospital.

John was raised and attended school in locust grove, OK where he joined the military in the early 1950s.

While in the military he spent time in Panama & had multiple tours overseas where he learned to speak many different languages. He spent time in infantry,field artillery, frogman for the Army, & intelligence. During his time in the service he was stationed in Virginia where he met and married Bessie Melvinia Hall on March 10,1960 in Beaverdam,VA. They were blessed to have spent 50 years together. They raised their four children in Virginia and Oklahoma.

John worked at different jobs throughout his life, he cowboyed in the 1960s &1970's at Johnson Ranch in Hennipen, OK and Hughes Ranch in Bartlesville, OK. They then established their home in Dewey, OK where he began working for National Zinc. After 24 years of employment with this company he took his retirement in 1987.

He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, mother, father,one brother, four sisters, and three grandchildren.

John is survived by one brother, Jerry Glen Grooms of Wagner, OK, three sons, Wesley John Charles Sr & his wife, Sharon Renae Groomes of Dewey, Dieter Lynn (Doc) of Bartlesville, Mickey Dean Groomes of Copan,OK & one daughter Geneva Mae Blancher(Gina) of Gadsden,Al. Seventeen grandchildren & multiple great grandkids, numerous nieces, nephews, &many friends. 

The memorial service for John will be held at Get Real Ministries on 14th street in Bartlesville on Thursday June 25, 2015 at 3:00 P.M.
