Curtis D. Grindstaff

Curtis D. Grindstaff
Oct 11, 1951 ~ Feb 18, 2014

Curtis D. Grindstaff, 62, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed from this life on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Services have been entrusted in the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A memorial services will be held at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Paul Anderson, officiating.

Curtis was born on October 11, 1951 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Gordon and JoAnn (Kuplin) Grindstaff. He grew up and graduated high school in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After high school he attended OSU for a year and then attended Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa where he graduated with a degree in Aircraft Mechanics. During this time Curtis also received his pilot's license. In 1970, he began working for the City of Stillwater as an Aircraft Mechanic. In the early 1990's, Curt and Brian Smith opened Stillwater Aircraft Services, an aircraft mechanic shop based in a hangar at the Stillwater Regional Airport. Curt had customers from all over the country fly in to Stillwater to have him work on their aircraft.

During Curtis free time he enjoyed restoring and rebuilding his 74 Trans-Am. He also enjoyed getting to spend time hunting with his dad, cooking, riding motorcycles; he had a fascination with history and could spend hours watching the history channel. He was also a long-time member of the Stillwater Elks Lodge and made many wonderful friends there.

Curtis was a good man who made his family his priority. Although he possessed a quiet strength, he was blunt, straight to the point, and you always knew where you stood with him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special spot in his heart for his cats Oscar and Rat. Curtis was a loving husband, a caring father, and a hard working employee and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Curtis was greeted in heaven by his parents Gordon and JoAnn Grindstaff.

He is survived by his wife and longtime companion, Elizabeth Grindstaff-Rakey; two children, Kimberly E. Focht and her husband, Tracy, Carl D. Trammel and his wife, Kyla; five grandchildren, Cody, Brandon, Dane , Dylan and Tyler; two great grandchildren, Skyler and Aubrey, and one more great grandchild on the way.

Condolences may be sent to the family via on online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com.
