ENID, Okla. - The service celebrating the life of Robert "Bob" Lee Gregory, 86, of Enid, Okla., will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Enid. The Revs. Kenneth Wade and Scott Whittenburg will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy. Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. today, Feb. 11, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings.
Bob was born March 15, 1927, in Enid, Okla., to William and Olga Ahsmuhs Gregory and passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014.
He was the first baby to be baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on East Broadway.
Bob grew up in Enid, and after graduating from Enid High School, he joined the Navy and attended the Naval School Great Lakes in Chicago, Ill. He furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1949. He received a master�s degree of arts in psychology, along with his Juris Doctorate of Law degree.
After school, Bob practiced law with the late Harry O. Glasser and managed the financials for Knox Oil. He then served as district attorney and later became a municipal judge for Garfield County, where he served for 25 years. He then had a private law practice and also served as a judge for North Enid and Garber.
Bob was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. In 1959, he was voted Jaycee of the Year. He was active in the Enid AMBUCS Club and twice received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Garfield County Bar Association.
Bob married Virginia Lee Pendley and through their union, two children were born, Rob and Mary. He married Tess Kisner Gregory in Hawaii on Nov. 11, 1990.
Bob is well known for his dedication to his work. He served his profession for a remarkable 65 years. He loved traveling and seeing the world. He enjoyed social activities with his wide circle of friends, especially the Big Band Dance Club. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan. Most of the time, people would see Bob around town, always wearing one of his many hats! Bob was always the perfect gentleman.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Lindol Gregory.
He is survived by his wife, Tess; son, Rob of Enid; daughter, Mary Gregory and husband Roger Kabler of Los Angeles, Calif.; his stepchildren, Brad Kisner and wife Jane of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Klista Loomis and husband Court of Trophy Club, Texas. He was the beloved Papa to his grandchildren, Megan, Bobby and Liam Gregory, Evan and Sarah Kisner, and great-granddaughter, Leah Kisner. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is now walking the streets of gold.
Memorials may be made in his name to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian to the funds.
