Lois Lillian Osborn Gregg was born May 27, 1921, in Altus, Oklahoma to Allie and Lottie (Gray) Cummings.
She was raised in Altus and graduated from Altus High School with the Class of 1939.
Two years later the family moved to Shafter and she met and married Charles Osborn April 17, 1942. They lived in Wasco until moving to Oxnard in 1977.
Lois and Charles were blessed with four children, but suffered the loss of their son, Ronnie Osborn, February 20, 1978 in an airplane accident.
Lois worked for Wasco schools cafeteria and as a lab assistant at Biofirm in Wasco. She later worked as an administrative assistant for Jay Atkinson with the Kern County Building Permits Office.
When her husband, Charles, passed away August 1, 1987, Lois started volunteering as a bereavement counselor with Hospice in Ventura and met Frank Gregg whom she married October 15, 1988.
While living in Port Hueneme she earned her real estate license and sold real estate in the area for a short time.
She was a former member of the Wasco Missionary Baptist Church and was active with the United Methodist Church of Port Hueneme, where she served with Harmony, the Women's Ministry. She also volunteered with the Kiwanis of Port Hueneme.
Lois and Frank moved back to the area three years ago to be with family and he preceded her in death December 6, 2006.
Lois is survived by her children, Gary Osborn and wife, Linda of Las Vegas, Sharon Fulmer and husband, Sam of Florence, Oregon and Charlotte McPhetridge and husband, Joe of Bakersfield; brothers, Ray Cummings and wife, Elvina of Bakersfield, Bill Cummings and wife, Jane of Visalia, Earl Cummings and wife, Sylvia of Shafter; sisters, Laverne Hiebert of Shafter and Charlene Parsons of Las Vegas; 9 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great- grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 21, 10:00 a.m., at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy., Shafter followed by a graveside committal at Shafter Memorial Park. Pastor John Ross of the Westside Family Fellowship will officiate.
