Owasso - Charles Ernest Gregg, 75, of Owasso, Oklahoma and formerly of Caney, Kansas passed away early on Father's Day at Clarehouse of Tulsa.
Chuck was born July 17, 1945, in Tucson, Arizona to Joe Gregg and Barbara June (Graves) Gregg. The family moved to Caney, Kansas, where Chuck would later graduate from Caney High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War. Sergeant Gregg returned from Vietnam in 1966. He and Marcia Sanders were married later that year. The couple had two daughters Robbi and Jimmi. Chuck was honorably discharged in 1967 and returned to Caney, Kansas, and later to Topeka, Kansas, where he joined the ranks of the Kansas Highway Patrol.
In 1974, the Greggs moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where they owned and operated Gregg's Ponca City TruValue Hardware Stores. It was in Ponca City where Chuck married Onie Adkins on December 30, 1982. Chuck and Onie owned several other successful businesses. After retiring early, Chuck and Onie lived in various places, including Breckenridge, Colorado, Lake Hudson area of Pryor, Oklahoma and Port Isabel, Texas. The couple spent the last several years in Owasso, Oklahoma.
Chuck was a proud veteran and was a member of the American Legion for 54 years. While a member of the American Legion, he was elected Legionnaire of the Year and the Oklahoma State Commander of the American Legion. During his tenure as State Commander, he was appointed by the governor to the War Veterans' Commission, Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs in which he was responsible for seven Veterans Centers and State Service Offices. According to Chuck, any of his success in life, both in business and the military, was due to the Marine Corps and their high standards. The USMC motto "Semper Fi" (Always Faithful) says it all.
He is survived by his wife, Onie of the home; three daughters, Robbi Gregg Herrman and husband, Paul of Gridley, Kansas, Jimmi Gregg Stevens and husband, Scott of Bonita Springs, Florida and Connie Goad and husband, Carl of Ralston, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Logan and Ella Herrman, all of Gridley, Kansas, Rachael "Jane" Watkins-Waner and husband, Bryan of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Delaney Cornforth of Ft. Myers, Florida, Brady Goad and wife, Bailey, Jason Goad, Cale Goad and Casey Goad and wife, Tiffany, all of Ralston; and one great-granddaughter, Tilly Goad. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Gregg and his mother, Barbara Hollingsworth and by one brother, Mark Gregg.
Funeral services for Chuck will be held 11am, Saturday, June 26, 2021, at
Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home with interment at Sunnyside Cemetery,
Caney, Kansas. Visitation will be Friday, June 25 from 9am – 8pm, with
family receiving guests from 6-8pm. Services and interment have been
entrusted to Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home & Cremation Service of
Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Family recommends donations in Chuck's memory to St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital or Clarehouse of Tulsa. To leave an online
