Norma Maxine (McCollom) Green

Norma Maxine (McCollom) Green, of Norman, OK, passed from this life on November 4, 2015 at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 18 days. She was born to Orville and Alzada (Wiley) McCollom on the family farm in Chester, OK on August 17, 1930. She was raised in Chester, attending a one room school house called Pleasant Vale (AKA Battle Ridge), and later Seiling High School where she graduated with the Class of 1947.

On January 6, 1953 she was united in marriage to Stanley L. "Bud" Green at the Elm Grove Church in Chester. The couple then made their home in Oklahoma City, then Broussard, Louisiana, and back to Oklahoma City in 1962. They finally settled in Norman, OK in 1973 where they remained until Bud's death in 2011. Here she worked as a Cafeteria Leader in the Norman Public Schools, (Irving Middle School and Lincoln Elementary) where she served over twenty years. She attended the Skyridge Freewill Baptist Church. In her final years, Norma was independent and loved living life to the fullest, she enjoyed playing bingo and socializing with the ladies at Wyndam Place Senior Apartments in Norman and she especially enjoyed family gatherings on holidays. She was loved by everyone and had a special place in everyone’s heart who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Stanley “Bud” Green; two children, Marilyn Kaye Green and Carolyn Faye Green; brother Wendell A. McCollom and wife Bennie Jean, and brother in law Robert W. Merick.

Left to carry on her legacy are daughter Marva June Morrison of Norman; son Kerry Dwaine Green, Esq. of Norman; sister Lynda Merick of Seiling; three grandchildren, one great grandchild, three nieces, three nephews, as well as other family and friends.
