Larry Green, 56, of Choctaw, OK, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2012. Larry was born Nov. 17, 1955 in Cushing, OK to William "Bud" and Geraldine "Gerrie" Green. He attended school at Willowbrook Elementary, Star-Spencer High School and Choctaw High School.
Larry played professional baseball for the Houston Astros, worked at Star Manufacturing as a welder and was a volunteer for the Choctaw Fire Department before graduating from the Midwest City Fire Academy. During his time at the MWC Fire Dept., he served as a firefighter, driver and Captain and was named Firefighter of the Year before retiring.
Larry enjoyed golf, softball, OU football, time spent at the lake, tailgating, spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was also a member of the Firefighters Association.
Larry is survived by his wife, Diana Gail; children Kelly Joe Green and wife Jacilyn, Kristal Gayle and husband Jason Pritchard; grandchildren, Hunter Kai Green, Blake Larson Pritchard, twins Emma Gayle and Ella "Cindy Lu" Grace Pritchard; parents, William "Bud" and Mabel Geraldine "Gerrie" Green; father and mother-in-law, Johnny "Pudge" and Rusty Lewellen; siblings, Brad and Janet Hubbs, Randy and Cindy Lewellen, Kenny and Caroline Lewellen; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Joe Phillips, Jamie Jenson, Ariel and Audriana Hubbs, Misti Dawn Lewellen, Randy Jon "RJ" Lewellen, Molly Bay and Bromlyn Brook Lewellen, numerous cousins, great nieces, great nephews and friends and his labs Bo and Sierra and yorkie Mattie.
Larry was preceded in death by his niece, Kyndra Gibson.
Larry, dad, pops, The pain we feel from your departure seems more than we can bear. Our one saving grace is in realizing that the hurt we feel today is a direct result of the great love that we share with you. We know that this love does not end or leave with you. It stays here with us in our hearts and with God"s help it will see us through this difficult time. May God bless you and keep you until we one day meet again to live together, and this time forever, in His heavenly kingdom.
Funeral services be 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Soldier Creek Baptist Church. The family would like to give a special thank you to his brother Ron and Lori Donnelly and the brotherhood of Midwest City Fire Department and numerous family and friends for their love and support.
