So many people come into our lives and leave the way they came. However, there are those precious few who touch our hearts so deeply, they will never be the same. There’s no better way to describe Brexten. The amount of people he impacted and touched in his life is truly amazing.
Brexten’s personality was larger than life. He added joy, humor, and friendship to everyone he encountered, whether you knew him 5 minutes or your entire life. The impact Brexten had in his lifetime was far reaching regardless of age. If you were younger than him, he was a role model, hero, and friend. If you were older than him, you strived to be a little more like him every day. Brexten was the upper classman that took kids home from practice, drove others to youth group that would not have been able to go, including friends in all hunting trips. We often joke about all of Brexten’s diverse friendship groups. He was able to form friendships with anyone who crossed his path, and never once had to try hard to do so. Brexten is the epitome of Cashion community. He was always there for anyone in need. Whether it was a flat tire, friend in need, or just hanging it out, Brexten was there and normally the center of attention. People were just drawn to him naturally and wanted to be around him. His smile and presence could brighten any room he entered.
While no one knows exactly what to say about this tragedy, we take comfort knowing that Brexten lived life to the fullest each and every day. He performed to the best of his ability in every task, practice, game, etc. We are also comforted knowing Brexten is smiling down from Heaven with his Lord and Savior watching the impact he had in all of our lives. None of us will understand God’s infinite plan for us, or why some are taken at such a young age. Brexten was able to fulfill God’s plan for him perfectly in a short time that he was called home. We are left trying to put the pieces back together without him, and that is proving to be a difficult task. When I think of Brexten entering heaven, I see Jesus smiling with his arms wide open saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
His legacy will continue to live through all of us. The pain of losing a son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, teammate is unbearable. Brexten has taken a piece of all of us with him to Heaven. We all have a hole to fill with this loss. Brexten would expect us to celebrate his legacy and continue to support each other during this difficult time. He also expects his friends to continue to support his family in his absence. Family was everything to Brexten. He loved his mother with all of his heart. He loved being called a “momma’s boy”. He loved his father, and cherished all the time spent hunting, practicing sports, etc. He loved his beautiful sisters and loved to drive them crazy most of the time.
To the angel that fly’s highest above them all, Brex, we will miss you for the rest of our lives. We long for the day when we will get to see you again.
Brexten was currently enrolled in Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. He was a member of the football team there and looking forward to an amazing future with the Hornets.
Brexten grew up in Cashion where he went to school from Pre-K till graduation in May of 2021 a Wildcat through and through.
His last day on earth was spent doing one of the many things he loved – enjoying friends. He was at Grand Lake and decided to go jump off the cliffs – in true Brexten fashion he was living to the fullest. Tragically after going under the water, he never resurfaced and rescuers were not able to locate him despite their best efforts.
Brexten’s family and friends would love you to join us at his celebration of life at the Cashion Public School gymnasium. His service will be Friday, July 8th at 4:00 p.m. Mandatory attire will be Cashion gear! Please bring noise makers, cow bells, etc. We are sending him off in true Cashion Wildcat fashion.
