David Grayson

David Grayson
March 23, 1923 - May 29, 2017

David Grayson was born March 23, 1923 in Paris, Texas to Hattie and Robert Paul Grayson. He passed away May 29, 2017 at Paducah, Kentucky at the age of 94 years,2 months and 6 days.

David grew up in Wheeler County and graduated from Allison, Texas high school in 1941. After graduation he worked as an apprentice carpenter before entering the United States Army in 1943. During his time of service he served in the European Theatre in Italy, Germany and France receiving numerous awards and medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After his discharge he attended West Texas State University where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He was married to Margie Faye (Taylor) Grayson on August 20, 1948 at Amarillo, Texas and moved to Stratford and White Deer, Texas utilizing his degree teaching high school history. He later obtained his Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling at West Texas State University and was a counselor and principal at White Deer, Olton and Hart, Texas before going to Crown Point, New Mexico where he finished his teaching career and retired in 1993. Upon his retirement they moved back to Sayre, Oklahoma and he enjoyed working with the DAV and serving as the Commander of the Elk City Chapter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

He is survived by his son, Douglas Grayson, Paducah, KY; daughter, Ila Frazier and husband, Mark, Trophy Club, TX; 2 grandchildren, Matt Miller, Roswell, NM and Marc Miller and wife, Leslie, Justin, TX; 4 great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Riley, Addie and Mason Miller and a host of other relatives and friends.
