Joshua Luke Graves

Joshua Luke Graves
October 9, 1975 ~ January 30, 2022

Joshua Luke Graves was born, October 9, 1975, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Russel and Rita (Carthrae) Graves. He attended South Barber schools where he met the love of his life, Jill (Jahay) and graduated in 1994. The foundation for his love of Jesus started at a young age when he was saved at vacation bible school and continued on at Bible Baptist Church in Alva, Oklahoma.

He enjoyed the country life north of Hardtner, Kansas, with his three siblings, Mariah (Doherty), Zach, and Zeb. They spent many hours together riding horses, fishing, building forts, and even cleaning dog kennels.

Josh's childhood was greatly influenced by his loving family. He learned many life skills that he used throughout his life and passed on to his children. His grandpas, Robert E. Graves and Stewart G. Carthrae, taught him everything from farming and carpentry to fishing and playing cards and games. His grandmas, Patricia (Jones) Graves and Marion J. (Wells) Carthrae, influenced his love of cooking. He rarely used a recipe and loved trying new things. Cooking up a delicious breakfast over the campfire was one of his favorites.

Josh started building ranch fences with his dad at a young age. He worked most of his life for the family business, Graves Fencing, that eventually branched out to Twisted Timber fire mitigation. Josh took great pride in helping his clients protect their homes and businesses and became friends with many of them.

Josh and Jill were high school sweethearts and married, September 27, 1997, in Hardtner, Kansas. They made their home in Castle Rock, Colorado, where they have raised their three children Ethan (Maddie), Lillian, and Felicity. Josh's passionate love was felt by his wife and children. A love that they will continue to cherish throughout the rest of their lives. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix or build. His many projects can be seen around their home. He was always there to help his kids with their many projects and his legacy will live on through them.

Josh returned to his heavenly home January 30, 2022, after a valiant battle with Covid-19. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Calvary Castle Rock in Castle Rock, Colorado. A burial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Hardtner Cemetery in Hardtner, Kansas. Online condolences may be made at http://www.foothillsfuneral.com.
