Charles Edward Gragret

Charles Edward Gragret
March 3, 1933 ~ May 13, 2016

Charles Edward Gragret was born March 3, 1933, in Albuquerque, N.M., the only child of Charles Gragret and Hattie Moore. He passed away May 13, 2016, in Oklahoma City.

Following his graduation from Enid High School, he entered the U.S. Army in 1951, serving until 1954, during the Korean War. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served from 1955 until 1972, serving in Vietnam twice. Charles served his country proudly and honorably.

Following his military retirement, he worked at the Salvation Army in Enid, serving in various areas for over 30 years. Charles married Charlotte Weidner on July 18, 1986, in Enid.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a daughter, Crystal Johnston, and her husband, Jayme, of Texas; Jason Weidner, of Atoka; Jared Weidner and his wife, Cassie, of Enid; a son, Richard Allen Allinder; and grandchildren, Payton, Jenna, Kian, and Cade Johnston and Xavier, Madison and Jacelynn Weidner.

Charles was a member of the American Legion, DAV, Enid Masonic Lodge #80, Guthrie Scottish Rite, Shriners and VFW. He formerly was a member of the Kiwanis Club for many years.

Charles faithfully served as the CSM of the Salvation Army Citadel for over 25 years.

Promotion to Glory memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Salvation Army Citadel Corps, 220 W. Pine, Enid. Major Jeff Daniels, Major Ernest Hull and Major Johnny Poff, of the Salvation Army, will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date.
