Mildred Joyce "Midgie" (Parker) Graeser

Mildred Joyce "Midgie" (Parker) Graeser
July 5, 1921 ~ October 25, 2019

Mildred "Midgie" Graeser passed away on October 25, 2019. She is loved and sadly missed; this weekend, Sunday, July 5, would have been her 99th birthday.

Born July 5, 1921 in Louisiana, Missouri, a town located on the river banks of the Mississippi, Midgie was the daughter of John and Rose Parker. She was a 1939 graduate of Elsberry High School and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. Following college in 1945, Mildred moved to Washington, D.C. to work for Clarence Cannon, a Democratic Representative from Missouri who was a notable parliamentarian and chaired the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations. In the mid-1950s, Midgie returned to St. Louis and met the love of her life, Frank Graeser. They were married on November 22, 1958, and daughters Janet and Jeanne later joined them. The family moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1971 where Midgie sold real estate for 14 years. With a keen memory for floor plans, she enjoyed finding the perfect home for her clients. Her hobbies included antiquing and baking creations to enter in the annual Pillsbury Bake-off contests. She stayed interested in local and national politics her entire life, often writing letters to the editors of local newspapers, including the Tulsa World. She loved horseback riding in St. Louis' Forest Park and never missed watching the Kentucky Derby, picking the winner not on odds but on the horse with longest tail. Midge was also an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Above all, she love her family with all her heart and soul.

Mildred is survived by her two daughters Janet Worth (husband Marc Worth), of Asheville, NC and Jeanne Graeser (husband John Posthumus), of Denver, CO; four grandchildren Allison Worth Dulaney (husband Brock Dulaney), Matthew Worth (wife Lesley Worth), Olivia Posthumus and Nate Posthumus; and two great grandchildren Cara Dulaney and Dylan Dulaney. Mildred was preceded in death by Frank's passing in June 2012.

Funeral Services were held on November 1, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, Missouri, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Missouri.

Memorials may be made to Global Down Syndrome Foundation https://www.globaldownsyndrome.org. a wonderful organization that supports individuals with Down syndrome, including Midgie's granddaughter Olivia.
