Billy Joe Gowen, 77, of Riverbank, California died Thursday at Memorial Medical Center Modesto, CA.
Mr. Gowen was a native of Oklahoma and lived in Riverbank for 62 years. He was a forklift operator for Contadino Foods for 35 years and a member of the Teamsters Local 748. He was a member of Abundant Life Pentecostal Church. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Gowen of Riverbank, CA., children, Billy James Gowen-Driesel of Oklahoma, Tommy Joe Gowen of Oakdale, CA., Brenda Langlois and Melinda Cooper both of Modesto, CA., C. H. Miller of Alaska and Lydia Rosco of Riverbank, CA., two brothers, Theodore Gowen of Proctor and Leon Gowen of Alexandria, Louisiana, one step sister Wanda Thomas of Stilwell and one step brother Harold Wayne Johnson of Watts, he had eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and one deceased brother L. D. Gowen of Sweethome, Oregon.
He was the son of Dode Gowen of Stilwell and Lou Ella Gowen of Riverbank, CA.
A funeral was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Riverbank Memorial Chapel. Private burial.
