Gerald (Jerry) Ray Gorman, Sr. 84, beloved Husband and Father was called to his eternal resting place on April 12, 2021. He entered this world on February 28, 1937 in Picher, Oklahoma, born to Kenneth Earl Gorman and Marie Elfreda Nibarger Gorman.
He is survived by his wife Opal Mae Duncan Gorman; daughter Joyce Faye Gorman Unruh and husband John; son Gerald Ray Gorman Jr. and wife Rayla; grandchildren, Clayton Unruh & wife Nancy; Andrea Gorman Lavine and husband Jason; and Zachary Unruh; great grandchild, Leonard Lavine and multiple nieces and nephews. Gerald's siblings; Kenneth Gorman-deceased, Doris Gorman Wallace, Carol Gorman - deceased, and Ronnie Gorman - deceased.
Gerald attended school in Miami Oklahoma. Gerald married Opal on February 1, 1957. Gerald had joined the US Army prior to marriage in February 1954. He retired as a Warrant Officer after serving for 20 years on April 1974. Gerald worked various jobs after retiring from the military. He enjoyed being a car salesman most of all. Gerald's gift of gab and never meeting a stranger was a plus in this job. He later worked at NEO A & M college in Miami, Oklahoma. Gerald retired from NEO in January 1997. Following retirement, he and Opal moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma to build their dream home. Gerald spent the rest of his life in Tonkawa with his wife Opal by his side. He was loved by his family and friends whom he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Gerald will be missed dearly by everyone.
Memorial services are pending. Gerald’s wishes were to be cremated and Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City has honored those wishes. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Fish and Loaves Food Pantry, P.O. Box 486, Tonkawa, Oklahoma, 74653.
