Wanda Lou (Magruder) Goodwin

March 12, 1926 ~ February 11, 2007

Wanda Lou (Magruder) Goodwin, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, died February 11, 2007, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Born to Warren &. Jewell Magruder March 12, 1926, in McAlester, Oklahoma, Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. (Chuck) Goodwin, Jr, of Anadarko in 1980 and by her parents Warren & Jewell.

She is survived by her son, Mark Goodwin and his wife Carol of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Kimberli Gillette and her husband Lewis of Ft. Cobb Lake, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Andrew Goodwin and Emily Goodwin, both of Norman, Oklahoma; her sister, Beverlee McKinsey and nephew, Scott McKinsey of Los Angeles, California; and many other loving family and friends.

Mrs. Goodwin graduated from McAlester High School in 1943 and attended Oklahoma College for Women before earning her Bachelor's degree in Commercial Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1949.

She met Chuck Goodwin at OU in September, 1946, and they were married at First Baptist Church in McAlester, OK on December 29th.

After living briefly in Oklahoma City and Lawton, they moved to Anadarko in 1950 where Wanda worked with Chuck in his law office.

As a mother, she worked with Cub Scouts and with Campfire Girls. She also was a volunteer worker at Anadarko Municipal Hospital.

She joined the First Christian Church of Anadarko in 1950 and was a faithful member there until her death.

She was the last surviving original member of a Bridge Club started in Anadarko in the early 1950's and loved the fellowship that Bridge provided throughout her life.

She also was a fervent OU fan, complete with pictures of OU coaches and players on her refrigerator. She had a real gift for being interested in people and in seeing the positive traits.

She would want to thank so many friends and neighbors for their love and kindness through the years.

Her services will be at First Christian Church in Anadarko, Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 10:00am, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Anadarko.

Please direct memorial donations to First Christian Church, SW 2nd & Central, Anadarko, OK 73005.
