David Brent Goodness, 63, of Lake Charles, La., died on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at his residence in Lake Charles.
Mr. Goodness was born May 16, 1953, in Enid, where he was raised and graduated from high school. He attended Oklahoma State University. He lived in Lake Charles since 1979. For the past 10 years, he worked at L'Auberge Casino as security. Everyone there loved him and called him "The Candy Man."
David loved music and played the drums in several different bands with his friends. He was also an avid painter, excellent cook and enjoyed building things. David also enjoyed acting and played in several plays at the Lake Charles Little Theatre.
Mr. Goodness is survived by his wife, Christine Goodness, of Sulphur; daughters, Michelle Durr and Chantal Durr, both of Westlake, La.; father, James Goodness, of Enid; brother, Robert Goodness, of Enid; grandchildren, Amberly Menard and husband, Brandon; Justin Vidrine and wife, Taylor; Tyler Vidrine; Kaleb Vidrine; Destiney Vidrine; and Brody Durr; great-grandchildren, Raelyn Hardy, Gunner Menard, Hadley Vidrine and Madilyn Menard; and his dogs, who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Goodness.
His memorial service is 4 p.m. Friday Nov. 18, 2016, at Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Charles, La. Visitation is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016.
