Douglas Chad Goodner died unexpectedly on June 7th, 2021 at the age of 48. Chad was many things to many people. He worked full time at the Collinsville Police Department for eight years until he was deployed to Afghanistan as a Forward Observer with the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment. He then returned as a reserve officer as he continued his education and completed his Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling and Licensed Professional Counseling. Chad spent his life serving others through the military, multiple law enforcement agencies and in the mental health field, but of all the roles he filled, he was most proud of being dad.
The life that he lived cannot be written in such a small space or shared fully by just one person, he lived well and loved much and was proud of all his scars.
Chad is survived by his wife, Gwen Goodner, his children Barnes Smith, Kyle Goodner, Caleb Roach and Lillian Goodner, his father Clay Goodner and a host of brothers and sisters in law enforcement and friends. Chad was proceeded in death by his mother Sharon Goodner.
Memorial services will be held on June 14th, 2021 at Rejoice Church in Owasso Oklahoma at 1.00pm.
Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
