Gena Susan Golden was born on July 20, 1958, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Edwin Golden and Paula Babb-Thomas. Gena lived most of her life in the Durant, Calera, and Madill area. She passed from this life at her home in Cumberland Cove on Lake Texoma on July 31, 2024.
Gena graduated from Calera High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. After graduation, she was employed with Durant Bank and Trust and later moved to Tulsa where she continued to work in the banking industry. She retired to her home at Cumberland Cove on Lake Texoma. Her favorite hobby was working puzzles and watching The Golden Girls on television.
Gena is preceded in death by her grandparents Leo and Lula Golden and Gene and Hazel Babb. One brother Randy.
Gena is survived by her daughter Shelly Boyett of Waco, TX. Her grandson Peirson of Waco, Texas. Her father Edwin Golden and wife Carle of Durant. Her mother Paula Babb Thomas of Waco, Texas. She also leaves behind three sisters: Rebecca Meckel of Waco, Texas, Carla Dixon and husband Ron of Phoenix, Arizona, and Edie Powell and husband Steve of Durant, as well as two brothers Stan Golden and wife Kim of Durant, and Kevin Davis and wife Merrilee of Durant. She also leaves behind many extended family members.
A celebration of her life is set for Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service of Durant.
