A memorial service for Gary Don Glasgow, 80, of Enid, is set for 10:30 am, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Golden Oaks Village with Wayne Brown officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Gary Don Glasgow was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas to William Rodney and Dolores Rilette (Mellor) Glasgow on October 22, 1938 and passed from this life Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the age of 80 years.
Gary grew up in Fairview but graduated from Aline High School. He attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa for a time but graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University at Alva with a BA in Social Work. In June of 1961, Gary entered the US Army and served three tours in Vietnam. He was in artillery and a parachutist and earned the Bronze Star Medal as well as numerous other commendations for his 16 year service to his country. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Major. His eighteen year marriage to Sandra Hudson blessed him with four lovely daughters; Shawnda, Renate', Daun, and Christa. Following his return home from the service, Gary finished his degree and went to work for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services where he was involved in Child Welfare. He also was a certified instructor to teach concealed carry classes.
Accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age made him hungry for knowledge of God's word. He spent hours in study and became a scholar of the Bible.
Gary enjoyed reading, travel, hunting, fishing, RC Planes, and anything outdoors.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Pat Glasgow and one sister, Nita Ruth Reese.
Left to cherish his memory are his four daughters; Shawnda Kirchmann, Renate' Klugherz, Daun Ritter, Christa Halstead, sister, Barbara Reese and Harvey, one brother, William "Bill" Rodney Glasgow Jr. and Lola, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other family and friends.
Memorials can be made to Shepherd Chapel with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
