Joel Wade Gipson, age 51, a Durant, OK resident for the last 15 years, formerly of Stringtown, OK. He was born on Wednesday, February 7, 1973, to Ronald Troy and Ginger (Holstine) Gipson, at McAlester, OK. Joel passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 at his home in Durant, OK. He attended Silo Grade School and graduated from Stringtown High School with the class of 1991. Joel was an over the road truck driver for many different companies, and a welder for Matrix Tank Services in Catoosa, OK. He married Sandra Jean (Brown) on Thursday, November 23rd, 2006 at Durant, OK. They celebrated 18 years of marriage before his passing. Joel was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, shooting guns, riding motorcycles, fishing, and loved being with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Joel is survived by his wife, Sandra Jean Gipson of the home in Durant, OK; children, Daniel Gipson of Norman, OK, Tyler Gipson of Durant, OK, Victoria Jackson and husband Willie of Atoka, OK, Julia Boston and husband Ricky of Stringtown, OK; mother, Ginger Layton and husband Ken of Stringtown, OK; father, Ronald Troy Gipson of Bonham, TX; grandchildren, Jace Jackson, Willie Ace Jackson, Trace Jackson, Tavia Jackson, Khaylee Boston, Lizbeth Logue, Colton Boston; siblings, Dustin Simmons of Stringtown, OK, Ronya Akin and husband Wes of Calera, OK; in laws, Sheila and Wayne Kohen of Durant, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Joel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe Bill and Gladys
Holstine, Alfa Gipson; cousin, Blair Hostine.
