Robert Dennis "Bob" Gilley

1942 ~ Nov. 16, 2002

URBANDALE, Iowa ~ Funeral for former Lawton resident Robert Dennis "Bob" Gilley, 59, Urbandale, Iowa, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Urbandale.

Mr. Gilley died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at an Iowa medical center.

Burial will be at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa, under direction of Westover Funeral Home, Des Moines.

He was born in 1942 in Lawton to Wayne and Mary Lu Gilley and lived here until 1972, when he moved several times with Sears Roebuck and Co. He was a 1960 graduate of Lawton High School. He married Pat A. Thomas on March 18, 1964. He moved to Des Moines in 1987. He retired from Sears as store manager after 38 years. He was a member and past president of Northwestern Rotary Club, an Iowa Assistant Governor of Rotary, a member of the Goodwill Industries Board of Directors, a former member of the Better Business Bureau Board of Directors and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pat A. Gilley, of the home; his mother, Mary Lu Gilley, Lawton; two daughters: Jodie M. Quinn and her husband Patrick, Lake In The Hills, Ill.; and Jamie A. Gilley, West Des Moines, Iowa; a son, Dennis W. Gilley, Urbandale; two sisters: LuWayne Irwin and Mary Helen Aguilar, both of Lawton; a sister-in-law, Nixie Gilley, Lawton; and four grandchildren: Maiya and Andrew Gilley and Sean and Camden Quinn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Gilley; and a brother, David Gilley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Urbandale, Iowa, or Goodwill Industries of Des Moines.
