Memorial services for Jack D. Gillean, Sr. will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Brett Gillean officiating. Jack passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 in Hugo, Oklahoma, at the age of 74.
Jack D. Gillean was born May 22, 1940 in Alhambra, CA, to Claude B. and Sara Inez (Sutton) Gillean. He married Peggy Palm in Clovis, NM on May 25, 1979. Jack worked as a train conductor for AT & SF (BNSF) from 1967 to May 2000 and was a member of the UTU. Jack was baptized on June 6, 1949 by Herbert Burkstrom. He retired to Oklahoma in 2000. He loved training race horses and raising greyhounds. Jack was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Inez Gillean; Rodney Gillean.
Jack is survived by his wife, Peggy L. Gillean of the home; sister, Betty Claudine Luther and brother in-law, Paul Luther of Clovis, NM; seven children, Jack Gillean, Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Scott Gillean and wife, Roxeanne, Cheri Stacy and husband, Randy, Sabrina Struble, June Doan, Lana Gillean and Brett Beamer; nineteen grandchildren, Ricky, Bradley,and Kelli Stacy, Britni Zuber, Brittney Brost, Nike and Chance Danner, Kambrie and Jamie Vargus, Lyle, Brett, and Megan Gillean, Ashlee Prince, Mike Struble, Jennifer Mynet, Stacy Lindsey, Cody, Dalton and Nick Beamer; twenty-one great grandchildren.
The family requests that donations be made in Jack's name to Cure Alzheimer's Fund@Curealz.org.
