Mrs. Ruth (McCoy) Gill, 105, of Bartlesville, died at 11:25 A.M. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Heritage Villa Nursing Center.
Private family arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mrs. McGill was born on June 29, 1913 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to George and Edna Sickles. She was married to John McCoy on July 17, 1931. Ruth and John moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1964 where she taught first grade. After completing her Masters, Ruth was a librarian for several elementary schools there until her retirement in 1978.
After John's death in 1985 she married Willard Gill and he also preceded her in death.
She was a stay at home mom, was always active in PTA, a Girl Scout leader, all church activities, sewing club, playing the organ, planting flowers, roses and fruit trees and enjoyed many card games. She loved to read and work crossword puzzles. She moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 2003 at the age of 90 to be close to her daughter Ruth Ellen. She made her home at the Tallgrass Estates in Bartlesville until February of 2017. She was a member of the First Church of Bartlesville.
Mr. and Mrs. McCoy had three children, John McCoy of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ruth Ellen Crossland of Bartlesville and Hariet George of Broken Arrow, Okla., seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lorena Brix.
