The visitation celebrating and honoring the life of Willard B. Gilbert, 79, of Garber, will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday September 5, 2023 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Willard was born September 10, 1943 in Salem, Illinois to Jess and Lucille Gilbert of Drumright Oklahoma. He was adopted by his grandparents at the age of 5 John and Ethel Gilbert who raised him in Drumright, Oklahoma he attended school in Drumright. After schooling he began working in the Oilfield as a Driller and Pumper and later on the pipeline. He married Jackie Bigbey on August 26th, 1963. He then began his career as a long-haul truck driver and retired in 1997 to care for his wife and family. After retirement he drove for Cherokee Strip Transit.
He enjoyed fishing, tinkering with vehicles and fixing absolutely anything even if it wasn’t the right way to fix it. In his final years he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, watching westerns with his daughter, mowing, and helping in any way he could. He was always there for his family, no matter the need.
He is survived by his children Pamela and wife Sylvia Gilbert, Tanya Winters, Ellen Gilbert, and Jacob Hopkins; grandchildren, Christopher, Nick and wife Ashley, Ladawn, Blake, Kodee, Matthew, Tambra, Robby and wife Tessa, Latasha, and Eric and wife Martha; great grandchildren, Maverick, Nevaeh, Blaine, Allison, Kyla, Alyk, Tread, Remi, Ariyanna, CJ, Benton, Miles, Estevan, Mia, and Madelynn; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jackie Gilbert one son Willard Gilbert and one Granddaughter Summer Gilbert.
