Gary Dwayne "Chooch" Gilbert
November 13, 1970 ~ February 26, 2020

Gary Dwayne Gilbert Jr. known to his friends and family as "Chooch" passed from this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the age of 49 years.

Chooch was born on November 13, 1970, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the oldest child to Gary Dwayne and Glenda Kay (Fairbanks) Gilbert. Chooch was initially raised in the Wild Horse area of Osage County. At the age of four he moved with his family to Cleveland where he began his education later graduating from Cleveland High School with the Class of 1989. Following high school, he worked at Homeland and has also worked as a cowboy for many years. He has mostly drove a truck for the majority of his time, driving throughout the United States as an over the road trucker and was currently employed with ME3 driving a bobtail.

Chooch loved being outdoors. Especially coon hunting, fishing, breaking horses and riding bulls. He loved his family and being around them whenever possible. He enjoyed being a dad and pawpaw. Entertaining was something you could always count on from Chooch. Being silly or telling the numerous jokes or poking fun at those around him. He liked anything country and watching the television shows Heartland and Yellowstone. Chooch took the scripture literal whenever possible; "This is the day the Lord has made: let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Survivors are his wife Nina of the home; his mother, Kay Gilbert of Cleveland, Oklahoma; children Tonya Mills and her husband Dustin of Oilton, Oklahoma, Sheri Cichon and her husband Brandon of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, River Lane And Scotty of Jennings, Oklahoma, two bonus sons Tommy Reece and his wife Autumn of Yale, Oklahoma, Ty Bryant of Yale, Oklahoma; sister Lisa Poole and her husband Harold of Terlton, Oklahoma; brother Justin Gilbert and his wife Cassie of Piedmont, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Chooch was preceded in death by his father Dwayne Gilbert and a son Douglas.

Pallbearers will include Justin Gilbert, Harold Poole, Garret Mills, Gus Mills, Shayne Youtsey, Cody Wilson, Jacob Wilson and Caleb Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Reece, Ty Bryant, William Huff, Troy Childress, Matt Wilson, Breck James and Dustin Mills.

Services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, March 2, 2020 at the Assembly of God Church in Yale, Oklahoma officiating will be Mike Clark and Mark Jackson. Burial will follow in the Diamond G Cemetery in Jennings, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
