David I. Gilbert
October 29, 1948 ~ July 27, 2020

A Celebration of Life Service for David I. Gilbert age 71 of Enid will be 10 am Friday at Willow View United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark McAdow officiating. A Visitation with the family will be 6:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Services and Cremation are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

David was born October 29, 1948 in Wichita Falls, TX to Ira S. and Mildred Yates Gilbert and passed away early Monday, July 27, 2020 in the OSU Medical Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was raised in Wichita Falls, Gainesville, TX and later moved to Lindsay, OK where he graduated from high school. He entered the U. S. Marine Corps on August 30, 1967 in Oklahoma City and retired November 1, 1990 after 20 years. He entered the Marines as a Private, but retired as a Captain. He was a "Mustang" officer. David married Sheila Akers on December 30, 1967 in Lindsay, OK.

David is survived by his wife Sheila of the home, son Brian Gilbert and wife Stephanie of San Antonio, TX; granddaughters Jennifer Henderson and Sarah Gilbert of San Antonio, TX; son Navy Master Chief Eric Gilbert and wife Alicia of Temecula, CA; and daughters, brother; Mike Gilbert of Temple, TX, and two sisters; Eilenne Smith and husband Norman of Beeville, TX and Gwen Harris and husband David of Krum, TX ; great grandson, Brayden Henderson of San Antonio, TX and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carolyn Cartmell.

Memorials may be made to OMRF-Alzheimer Division or Willow View United Methodist Church with Ladusau-
Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
