DeVon Russell Gibler
December 6, 1941 ~ February 9, 2016

DeVon Russell Gibler was born December 6, 1941 in Hooker, Oklahoma to Alma Mae and John Russell Gibler. He passed away February 9, 2016 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 3 days.

DeVon grew up in Hooker, Oklahoma and attended grade school in Optima before transferring to Guymon, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1960. After graduation he furthered his education at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He was married to Jannette Robinson in 1961 and to this union 2 children were born, Jana and David. DeVon began building houses in Guymon for a few years before gaining employment at West Texas Gas reading meters and later Natural Gas Pipeline Company. DeVon was employed with Natural Gas Pipeline for over 20 years at their Hooker location. It was during this time that he was married to Janetta Dru (Davis) Gibler at Perryton, Texas on February 20, 1989. In 1990 DeVon was transfered to the Natural Gas Pipeline Company plant in Sayre, Oklahoma where he remained until his retirement in 1995. After a couple of years of retirement DeVon went to work for Elk City Schools as a custodian and retired for a second time in 2005. Starting in 2010 DeVon devoted his time to volunteering at the Thrift Store and helping and coordinating the business decisions and was named the Thrift Store Board Chair. He also had a passion for building and flying remote control airplanes and playing cards. DeVon wasn't afraid of hard work and that was evident in the fact that he farmed throughout his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Cathy Kay Naasz, niece, Anna Marie Naasz.

He is survived by his wife, Janetta, of the home; 3 children, Jana Kaye Belding, Jonesboro, AR, David Russell Gibler and wife, Anjanette, Hooker, OK and Joe Edward Davis and wife, Marcia Kay, Lubbock, TX; 7 grandchildren, Wendy Longberry, Sheldon Michael Davis, John Carpenter, Caitlin Forester, Mackenzie Belding, Aaron Gibler, Sydney Blackwelder; 12 great grandchildren, Reagan Nicole Davis, Montana Blackwelder, Chloe Longberry, Kyndall Longberry, Adam Longberry, Parker Longberry, Aidan Jones, Dylan Jones, Kodi Carpenter, Maddison Carpenter, Abbie Carpenter and Emma Carpenter; 1 sister, Judy Kay Lamb, Springfield, IL, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
