Donald P "Don" Geyer

Donald P "Don" Geyer
December 19, 1941 ~ April 23, 2024

Don Geyer passed from this life on Tuesday, April 23. He was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on December 19, 1941, to F.W. and Walsa (Giboney) Geyer. He was saved and baptized at the age of 12. He grew up in Pink and Tecumseh, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1959. He also attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the ROTC.

In 1962 he married the love of his life, Erma Wright. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on April 6. Together he and Erma raised three daughters, built a successful business, MacArthur 66 in Shawnee, and ran a family farm. The farm is where most of his family’s happiest memories occurred. He enjoyed working cattle with his great uncles and sons-in-law, but not so much with his daughters. They are sissies and at least one of them always went to the house crying. He was a member of the Tecumseh Jaycees for many years and enjoyed camping trips with the other Jaycee families. He also enjoyed water skiing and fishing.

Don was a devoted father to his daughters. He thought his grandchildren hung the moon and his great grandchildren were perfect. He played the role of father to many, not just his own children. Whenever he knew of someone in need, he did what he could with what he had to help.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Geyer, and an infant brother, Jimmy. Those left to mourn his loss are his wife, his children: Larry and Melissa Watkins, Jeff and Lori McMahan, and Susan Geyer of Tecumseh, his grandchildren: Kyle and Robyn Watkins, Edwin and Leanne McIntyre, Colt and Katie McMahan, and Alex and Kathryn Hutson, his great-grandchildren: Hunter Watkins, Molly Van Brunt, Kylyn Watkins, Fletcher Van Brunt, Lorelai Hutson, and Canton McMahan. He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law: Karl and Ruth Englund, and John and Patty Lemons, one sister-in-law: Judy Geyer, and numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Tecumseh Fire Department, palliative care and hospice care teams from St. Anthony’s that helped him transition from this life.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m.; Monday, April 29, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Martin from Sulfur Christian Church, Sulfur Oklahoma under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
