Rodger Clifford Geurin, 65, of Ponca City, OK, left this life on October 14, 2024, after bravely fighting a battle with cancer for two years. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Carolyn Renfro Event Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Rodger was born to Clifford and Wilma Geurin on July 31, 1959, in Orange County, CA. Moving to western Oklahoma in 1965, Rodger spent his childhood in Arnett, graduating with the class of 1977. Rodger secured a baseball scholarship and a music scholarship from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. Later moving to Blackwell, OK, Rodger put down roots in Kay County. A knowledgeable and avid baseball fan, Rodger umpired collegiate baseball for the Big 8 Conference, while cheering on his beloved New York Yankees.
Through his longtime love of golf, Rodger cherished the memories made with those he met, who ultimately became everlasting friends. Rodger was an exceptional cook. He often expressed his love for others by sharing his favorite dishes (aka Pasta Bolognese, Caesar salad, and INDISPUTABLY the best Key Lime pie). Rodger had a great passion for music, as proven by the joy he felt at concerts, his admiration for Neil Peart, and by seeing Billy Joel live 70 times.
Through his many travels and adventures, Rodger lived life to the fullest, however all would be inconsequential without his children. More than any accomplishment, he was most proud of his children. Each with beautiful, strong souls, Rodger’s love for them was tremendous.
Fiercely loved and deeply missed, Rodger is survived by: his wife of (almost) 25 years, Amy, of the home; daughters, Leah Geurin-Smith and her wife, Stephanie, of Broken Arrow, OK, Teri Geurin of Ponca City, OK; son Alex Geurin and his fiance, Nicole Cummings, of Derby, KS; grandchildren, Bailie Badley and husband Garet, Caidon Gordon, Avery Gilbert and husband Justin, Carter Jones, Sydnie Foreman, Major Foreman, and Cash Cole; great-grandchildren, Copelynn, Halstynn, and Kayson Badley, and Kolter Gilbert; nephew and niece, Connor and Taylor DeWitt. Rodger was preceded in death by his parents.
