John Michael Geschwind was born February 8, 1947 in New York City, and passed away on May 2, 2021, at the age of 74, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Originally from Queens, New York, John eventually moved with his family to Shawnee, OK. John graduated from Shawnee High School in 1965 and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma where he was a proud member of the marching band. His love for all things OU continued and he was an avid OU collector and loved watching his Sooners.
John served in the Army and was very proud of his service to his country. He eventually went on to work at Tinker as a civil servant. He retired from Tinker in 2003.
After John’s retirement, he continued to dote on his wife and grandkids and the highlight of his days was any time with family or on a lake.
John is survived by his wife, Nancy Geschwind, of the home; stepsons Justin Mears (wife Ula), stepson Jim Ford, stepdaughter Kristine Noblett (husband Ernie) and was a proud Papa to Connor, Shelby, Michael, Chloee, Brooke, Kaitlynne, Paige, Lauren and Lexi.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 6, at 10:30 am at Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City. Visitation will be at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Tuesday from 4-8 pm and Wednesday from 8 am to 8 pm. Family will be greeting friends Wed from 4-6 pm.
