James "The Marvel" O'Dell George was born April 18, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to Billy Wayne George and Virginia "Vickie" Jones George Hooper.
The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1959, where he resided about ten years before moving to Tecumseh.
He served in the United States Navy, on board the U.S.S. Frances Hammond.
After leaving the Navy, Dell returned to Oklahoma City until 2011. He resided in Tecumseh until his passing, March 25, 2016.
He was "Dell" to family, James to the Navy and VA, and James the Marvel to all his listeners when he called the Sports Animal.
He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ.
Dell was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Brenda Wylie.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia "Vickie" Hooper of Shawnee, Oklahoma, sister, Pam Keith and husband, Rickey of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, brother, Coy George and wife Susie of Wellston, Oklahoma, son, Jonathan McCain and wife April of Midland, Texas and one grandson, Carson Hunter McCain of Midland, Texas as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many dedicated listeners to the radio broadcasts.
The family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City for the service they have provided to James and the family over the years, Joe, Brian, Jeana, Sherri, Gloria, Jennie, Carey, Bruce, Dr. Roger, and the rest of the MHICM staff, words cannot express our thanks for the love you have shown us by caring for our loved one.
Visitation will begin 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 and continue through service time.
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Erick Henson, Tecumseh Highland Church of Christ officiating.
Graveside services will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at George Family Cemetery in Freestone County, Texas with Holton George officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
