Mike Gensler, age 57, of Midwest City, passed from this life on February 7, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer. Mike was born on October 20, 1957, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Delbert and Nina Gensler. He was the oldest of their four children and their only son.
Mike followed his father into the printing trade, and spent nearly forty years in that vocation. He was an expert pressman and could run virtually any printing press. He was also a great teacher and mentor who took tremendous pride in sharing his knowledge and expertise with his younger colleagues.
Mike is survived by his son, John Gensler of Del City; his mother, Nina Gensler of Midwest City; his sister, Tammy O’Quinn of Moore and her children and grandchildren; his sister, Linda Kaufmann of Norman and her husband Michael and their children; his stepson, Jeremy Gibson of Oklahoma City; his companion, Brenda Milner of Del City and her children and grandchildren; as well as extended family and numerous friends who were all very blessed to know him. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Gensler and by his sister, Cindy Crabb.
Mike was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed traveling to Texas Motor Speedway to watch the races. He also loved fishing, spending time with his family, and fixing things. Mike could take apart and repair anything, from cars to refrigerators. Mike touched the lives of so many people with his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and giving heart. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service to remember Mike and to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City.
