A memorial service to celebrate the life of Freddie Duane Geckler Sr., 80, of Sacramento, New Mexico, who passed away Monday, December 3, 2007, at his home in Durant will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the family home at 1381 Sawmill Road.
Freddie was born April 4, 1927, in Oklahoma City to Henery and Mayme Hinton Geckler.
He attended school in New Mexico and went to work at an early age with the forestry service then later as a grounds and road operator.
He married his wife, Carolyn July 23, 1955, in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
After his retirement he went to work as a cattle inspector.
He enjoyed painting, hunting and woodcrafts. Freddie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Geckler.
Freddie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carolyn, of the home; sons, Freddie Duane Geckler Jr. and wife Phyllis of Durant, Steve Hinton of Odessa, Texas; daughters Leatrice Geckler of Albuquerque, N. M., Sheryl Anderson and husband Ron of Oklahoma City, and Andrea Hicks and husband Don of Schertz, Texas; grandchildren Cody, Shilo, David, Jason, Rhonda, Gary, Shannon, Meagan, and Chad; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
