Ann "Momma Ann" Gay
Vanetta Ann LaFon Gay, 82, of Lebanon, was born January 29, 1940 in Lelia Lake, Texas to Stanley Forrest and Audie Dell Britt LaFon. She entered her eternal home on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Durant.
Ann, also called "Momma Ann" by everyone, grew up in Telephone, Texas and graduated from Telephone High School. She was a great basketball player while in school. She loved life and loved people. Ann married Ronnie Gay, the love of her life, at Lebanon in 1987.
Ann was a stay at home mom and seamstress all of her life, making her children's clothes when they were younger. She was very active in the Lebanon community and had a passion for feeding the senior citizens at the community center. Ann was an excellent cook and enjoyed making all kinds of food. She enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, going to Blue River, and traveling to Lake City, Colorado during the summertime. Ann loved being with her family and all of her friends. She was also proud to be the wife of a veteran and was very involved with the Church of Christ in Powell.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ronnie Gay in 2015.
She is survived by her daughters, Danetta Dell Shelton and husband Curtis of Lebanon, Era Quidon Thames and husband Karey of Foster, and Edwina Faye Myers and husband Kenneth of Duncan; grandchildren, Michael Shelton (Tashina), Hazel Shelton, Misty Shelton, Jason Harrison, Kevin Smith, Wade Smith, Kendra Myers (Shane Mitich), Emily Myers and Ethan Myers; sisters, Linda Denison of Ardmore and Donivee Sutton of Bonham, Texas; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members and great friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at Brown's Funeral Home Chapel in Madill with Brother Michael Herndon officiating.
