Frances Jolene Garrett, 80, of Vinita, Oklahoma, died at her home in Craig County on December 10, 2017. She was born January 25, 1937, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the daughter of Leonard Richard McCallie and Flora Jane Crook McCallie.
She was a retired contracts analyst, working for the United States Department of Energy in Tulsa, and the United States Air Force at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Before entering the civil service, she worked for Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville and for Washington County, and she was also a schoolteacher, bookkeeper and homemaker. She was a graduate of Westville High School in Westville, Central Christian College in Bartlesville, and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She was a member of the Vinita church of Christ and served as secretary for the church after she retired. On August 24, 1957 she married Justin Lanier Garrett in Westville. They remained married until his death earlier this year.
She is survived by a brother, James C. and wife Betty McCallie of Vinita, five (5) children and their families: Chip and Allison Garrett of Emporia, Kansas, and children Ethan and wife Danielle Garrett, and Tori and Noah Garrett; Stuart and Cynthia Garrett of Kansas City, Missouri, and children Lindsey and husband Robert LaRochelle, and Preston Garrett; Nikki and Eugene Robertson of Collinsville, and children Logan and Tanner Robertson; Drs. Kipton and Gina Garrett of Morehead, Kentucky, and children Nathan, Justin, and Zachary Garrett; and Mallory and Brett Smith of Shawnee, Kansas, and children Kali, Colin, Heidi, and Brytni Smith; and two (2) nieces: Tammie Krause of Bartlesville, and Amy Wright of Vinita. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Graveside services were held December 18, 2017, at Drakes Creek Cemetery in Madison County, Arkansas, under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
