Clark Buck Gardner Jr., 45, passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2016, at the Health Plex in Norman.
Clark was born on January 25, 1971, at the Lawton Indian Hospital to Clark Buck and Maxine Gardner.
He graduated from Purcell High School in 1989. He attended Phillips University in Enid, OK, and was close to completing his bachelor's degree at University of Phoenix. Clark joined the United States Army in 1990. He served his country for five years, achieving the rank of Specialist IV. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Purcell, OK.
Clark was a lifelong musician. His ear was second only to his mother's. His first instruments were the piano and violin. When he discovered rock-n-roll, he begged for a bass guitar and got one for Christmas when he was 11. That would become his favorite instrument, even though he could play anything he picked up. Clark played in many bands, from country to heavy metal, throughout his life. He worked predominantly in information technology in his "day job".
Music was his passion, but his children and his grandchildren were his joy. He enjoyed being not only a father, but also a friend to his kids as they became adults. He especially lit up around his two beautiful granddaughters.
Clark was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner. To his friends and loved ones, he was witty and hilarious. He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and a huge fan of the OU Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Every time we hear a great rock song, we will remember Clark Buck and smile.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Karen Kozik of Norman; his mother, Maxine Gardner of Norman; his children, Jade Gardner and fianc' Julian Jennings of Norman; Dillon Gardner of Purcell; Sidney Gardner and boyfriend Jimmy Vaughn of Norman; Charlie Gardner of Moore; and Joshua Gardner of Dibble; his granddaughters, Brielle Rose Gardner and Emma Grace Vaughn; his sisters, Marion Talbert (Bill Talbert) of Noble, Susie Shaw (Steve Shaw) of Norman, and Natalie Gardner of Norman; his nieces, Andrea Chastain (Clifford Chastain) of Lexington, Lindsay Waggoner (Brandon Waggoner) of Huntsville, Alabama; and several special aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clark Buck Gardner, and his maternal and paternal grandparents, Charlie and Johnnie Holland of Maysville, and Marion and Evelyn Gardner of Ardmore.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Havenbrook Funeral Home. Services will be held at Havenbrook Funeral Home on Monday, April 4th, at 2pm.
