Joe Albert Garcia passed away from this life on March 1, 2023, at his home surrounded by family at the age of 82 in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Joe was born on February 6, 1941, in Campbellton, Texas, the son of Cesario, Sr., and Santos (Llamas) Garcia. Joe began his education in Campbellton, later completing high school in Pleasanton, Texas. After high school, Joe began working on the pipeline with his oldest brother Richard. Joe moved to Cleveland to work on Keystone Lake with his brothers. During his time in Cleveland, Joe met the love of his life at Wards Café in Cleveland. The two were united in marriage on December 23, 1963, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. After completing the Keystone Lake project, Joe started working with the International Union of Operating Engineers with the Local 627 in 1968. Joe and Johnnie worked for over 38 years with the operating engineers traveling in Canada, Alaska, Kuwait, and the United States, retiring in 2006. Joe last worked for Henkels & McCoy as the tie-in foreman for many years. During this time, they always called Cleveland their home.
Joe always loved being outdoors. He worked tirelessly in his garden and tending to his yard. Joe loved being with his family and friends and attending church functions. Joe has attended the Church of the Nazarene in Cleveland for many years and is a member of the Hebron Lodge #215 AF & AM. Joe had a deep love and admiration for his wife, Johnnie. Joe often quoted: "If you don't have family or friends, you don't have anything."
Survivors are two children, Brent Wise and Donna of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Brenda Wall and her husband Larry of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one sister Felicia Garcia of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren Amber Hewitt and her fiancé Chad Horine, Sasha Stamper and her husband Josh, Jesse Wise; great grandchildren Ashland, Dayton, Daryn, Henley, one great great granddaughter Abilene and host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will mourn his passing. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Garcia, parents Cesario and Santos Garcia; six siblings, Manuel Garcia, Abelardo Garcia, Richard Garcia, Mary Louise Garcia, Cesario "PeeWee" Garcia, Jr., Lucy Caballero; one granddaughter Amanda Jo Cody.
