Mary Ann (Hill) Gallon

Mary Ann (Hill) Gallon
July 19, 1939 ~ April 20, 2023

Mary Ann Gallon, the former Mary Ann Hill, passed away peacefully in her home on April 20, 2023. Mary, or Mary Ann to her longtime friends, was born in the Capron, Oklahoma, area on July 19, 1939, to Herbert Hill and Alice (Thomas) Hill. She was a graduate of Capron High School.

Mary was married to another Capron graduate, Gary D. Gallon, and they had four children: Ken, Kirsten, Jay and Susan.

Mary received a BA from NWOSU and a Masters in Social Work from Oklahoma University. Her work would take her to many cities in the US as well as overseas to provide counseling at an army base in Heidelberg, Germany. She eventually settled back in Fort Worth, Texas, and retired from NAS JRB Fort Worth, at age 73.

Mary had a huge sense of adventure and loved to travel. She visited many destinations across the US by herself. Mountain destinations were her favorites. During her time living in Germany, she ventured around many other European countries.

Dogs were a very important part of Mary's life. She donated time, money and resources to Central Texas Dachshund Rescue as well as being a foster to many dogs. She also was a foster failure and ended up adopting several of the foster dogs over the years.

Mary is survived by her former husband, her four children, sister-in-law, Nellie Hill, former daughter-in-law, Linda Pfleider, three grandchildren, Lori, Jon, and Mason, four great-grandchildren, Caylie, Hannah, Conner and Landon, three nephews, two nieces, a few cousins, and many, many friends.

She was predeceased by her brother, Pat; sister, Crysta; former son-in-law, Kelly Wolfe; and nephews, Chris Hill and Bill Cook.

Mary was cremated at her request and there is no formal service planned. If you would like to donate in Mary's honor, please consider the DFW Humane Society or an animal rescue of your choice.
