Michael Don 'Mike Gable

January 24, 1955 ~ August 4, 2010

Michael 'Mike' D. Gable, 55, of Midwest City, passed away suddenly on August 4, 2010. Mike was born in Seminole, Texas on January 24, 1955 to Jerry and Norma (Box) Gable.

Mike was an alumni of Crooked Oak elementary, junior high and high schools where he loved playing football and running track. Even though he wasn't the biggest on the team, he was known as one of the toughest. Another thing that many may not have known about Mike was that he was an avid fan of magic. He later enjoyed teaching some of his 'tricks' to his grandson, Darrien.

Mike joined the U.S. Navy in 1977 where he served for 10 years as a Corpsman, traveling to Japan, Spain, and other many locations. Before and after the Navy, Mike worked as a chef, owning his own restaurants in two different states, even working as a cook foreman at the El Reno Federal prison. Mike loved to cook and really missed it in the past few years as he was just not physically able.

In 1985, Mike married his junior high sweetheart, Toni Keeton and became an instant father to then 6 year old Karlee. Unfortunately. in 1989 Mike suffered a disabling spinal cord injury leaving him unable to work. Fortunately, by this time, in addition to his interest in electronics, music, and computers, he had a new hobby named Brandi. His inability to work became a blessing, as he was able to stay home and spend more time with her. As if there could be anyone brighter in Mike's life than Karlee and Brandi, along came Darrien, his grandson and best buddy. They spent many nights watching movies and playing video games until the sun came up. Darrien loved visiting because there were no rules in PaPa's world. Over the next few years Mike became the proud father of daughters who attained their Bachelor degrees and one went on to achieve her Master's degree. The new apple of PaPa's eye was granddaughter Kenlee, born in July 2009. Because of Mike's failing health he was not able to spend as much time as he wanted with her, but kept up with her growth and her adventures through Toni's stories and lots of pictures.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Janet Troxell. He is survived by wife, Toni, of the home; daughter Karlee and son-in-law Kenneth Baldwin of Moore, OK; daughter Brandi Gable of Edmond, OK; grandson Darrien Mack of Moore, OK; and granddaughter Kenlee Baldwin of Moore, OK.
