A memorial service for Virginia Laura Fuqua, 71, long-time resident of Canton, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2011 at Canton Christian Church with Reverend Robert Barr and Pastor Travis Howerton officiating. The family requests casual attire for the service.
Virginia Laura Fuqua was born May 27, 1939 at Canton, OK to parents Henry Bryan and Laura Jess (Baird) Seifried. She passed from this life on Wednesday evening, April 13, 2011 at her home west of Canton.
Virginia graduated from Canton High School in 1958. She married Keith Fuqua on March 15, 1958 at Canton, OK. They moved to Dighton, KS that same year. Virgina and Keith moved back to Canton in 1973. Together they owned and operated Fuqua Liquor in Canton for 31 years. Virginia enjoyed raising Longhorn cattle, gardening, cooking and baking and attending horse races. She also enjoyed long walks and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother; Survivors include her husband Keith of the home; two children, daughter Tracy Martin and husband Nelson of Canton; one son, Shane Fuqua and wife Amanda of Rock Springs, WY; three grandchildren, Derrek Martin , Tess Vowell and husband Buck and Dallas Kenrick, all of Canton, OK; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Hailey Vowell;
Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with the funeral home serving as custodian. Condolences may be made online at Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home.
