Naomi Fumero

Naomi Fumero
November 20, 1936 ~ December 11, 2022

Maomi Fumero of Durant, Oklahoma, passed on to Glory on December 11, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born on November 20, 1936, in Havana, Cuba, to Miguel Enrique and Pastora Luisa Vergara de Lavin. Naomi married Manuel Gregorio Fumero in Havana, Cuba, on July 21, 1961.

Naomi attended the University of Havana, Cuba. She came to the United States with her husband Manuel in 1967 as Cuban Refugees while the International Foursquare Gospel arranged to relocate them to California. In 2007 they relocated to Durant, Oklahoma. Naomi assisted her parents in church ministry and mission outreach in her youth. She was dedicated to ministry work, serving in various positions in the church. Her love for children led her to work as a preschool teacher for years. She was dedicated to her family, nephews, and niece. Her leadership earned her the title of Matriarch over the family. She loved handcrafting activities such as crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, sewing, and baking. She was a member of Victory Life Church in Durant, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed serving others. She was also known as a prayer warrior at the Hands of Hope in Durant, Oklahoma.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Debbie Fumero of Durant, Oklahoma. Her brother Moses Lavin and wife Lourdes of Durant, Oklahoma; her sisters Maria Julia Lavin of El Monte, California; and Vivian Lavin-Conley and husband Major Paul D. Conley of Durant, Oklahoma. Her legacy lives on with her granddaughters Makenzee Joelle Castanon, Madelynn Sarah Castanon, and Alayna Sierra Tramel. She is also survived by her nephews Robert Lavin and wife Jane, Richard Lavin and wife Maribel, and niece Kathryn M. Hefner, as well as great-nieces Madison Lavin, Emily Lavin, and Sofia Lavin.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Hands of Hope, 724 W. Main Street, Durant, Oklahoma, 74701. Her service will be live-streamed on the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home website at www.holmescoffeymurray.com

In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made to Hands of Hope, 724 W. Main Street, Durant, Oklahoma, 74701.
